The PKD Foundation of Canada - Hamilton Chapter

Hamilton Chapter logoAbout 1 in 500 people — more than 12 million people worldwide — have one of the most common life-threatening genetic diseases: Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD).

PKD causes cysts to grow in the kidneys (sometimes in other organs as well) and can lead to kidney failure. To date, dialysis and/or kidney transplantation are the only treatment options.

The PKD Foundation of Canada, a non-profit organization, began in Oakville, Ontario, in 1993. Its mission: to promote programs of research, education, support and awareness. We are here to help PKD patients, their families, caregivers and friends.

The Hamilton Chapter, serving southwestern Ontario, launched in 2011 and hosts free support meetings 6 times a year.

PKD Foundation Chapters and the volunteers who lead them, are the backbone of the PKD community. Get involved today!
